Here's a simple recipe to make Rava Appe:
** Ingredients:**
- 1 cup Semolina (Rava/Sooji)
- 1/2 cup Curd (Yogurt)
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1/4 cup Finely chopped Onions
- 1/4 cup Finely chopped Capsicum
- 1/4 cup Grated Carrot
- 2 tbsp Finely chopped Coriander leaves
- 1-2 Green Chilies, finely chopped (adjust according to spice preference)
- 1/2 inch Ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda (optional)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for greasing the appe pan
**Instructions:**
1. In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, curd, and water. Mix well to form a thick batter. Allow it to rest for about 15-20 minutes to let the semolina absorb the moisture.
2. In a pan, heat a little oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Allow them to splutter.
3. Add chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
4. Add chopped capsicum, grated carrot, and cook for a couple of minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender. You can also add other vegetables of your choice.
5. Add the sautéed vegetables to the semolina batter. Also, add chopped coriander leaves and salt. Mix well.
6. If you want, you can add baking soda to the batter at this stage for a softer texture. Mix it in well.
7. Heat the appe pan and add a few drops of oil into each mould.
8. Spoon the batter into each mould, filling them up to 3/4th of the mould.
9. Cook on medium flame. Once the bottom side turns golden brown, flip each appe using a spoon or skewer.
10. Cook the other side until it gets a golden color as well.
11. Once both sides are cooked, remove the Rava Appe from the pan.
12. Repeat the process with the remaining batter.
13. Serve Rava Appe hot with coconut chutney or any chutney of your choice.
Enjoy your delicious and crispy Rava Appe!
**Conclusion:**
While Rava Appe has these benefits, it's essential to consume it as part of a balanced diet. Additionally, individuals with specific dietary restrictions or health conditions should consider their nutritional needs when including Rava Appe in their diet.
